Edward Mills MSc (Oxford, UK) is Director of Research at the Canadian College of
Naturopathic Medicine. He is also conducting his PhD in Health Research Methods at
McMaster University. He holds affiliate positions at University of Queensland,
Department of Medicine (Australia) and York University, Department of Social Work (Canada).
Mr. Mills work relates to the safety of drugs and over-the-counter medications and their
likelihood for drug interactions and adverse drug reactions. His work additionally examines
the safety and evidence-base of regulated and unregulated health professions. Mr. Mills
works at developing grades of evidence related to risk and perception of risk. He is a member
of the GRADE working group led through McMaster and the Norwegian Directorate for Health
and Social Welfare. His publications have appeared in several peer-reviewed manuscripts
including Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, British Journal of Clinical
Pharmacology and Canadian Medical Association Journal.
Mr. Mills’ specific area of interest relates to the use of traditional medicine in developing
nations for the treatment of infectious diseases and the potential for risk associated with this
use. He has led trials of safety and pharmacokinetics and is the author of two books related
to public health safety, related to HIV in the developing world and safety of botanical
medicines in pregnancy and lactation.
Mr. Mills received his MSc. in Evidence-Based Health Care from University of Oxford, UK and
is conducting his PhD in Health Research Methods at McMaster University.
