Public Health Policy

Welcome to Public Health Policy. Public Health Policy provides a place for decision makers, policy analysts, students and other interested parties to find information about key issues impacting the provision of public health in Canada and internationally.

This website is guided by the following principles:

Public health has been an under recognized component of our health system

The majority of the improvements in life expectancy and other key markers of health outcomes have arisen because of the implementation of effective public health programs

The public health system usually only receives attention after problems emerge. These problems can lead to large scale health threats

Understanding the development of public health policies can provide guidance on how to optimize decision-making to avoid future public health problems.
